BBATT Autumn Open
16th to 17th Sep 2017

Our first meet of the new season saw our small group of swimmers shaking off the cobwebs at our annual BBATT meet in Aylesbury. After a long summer break, it is a good starting point for planning the new season and hopefully provided everyone with some new (or perhaps continued!) targets.

Everyone involved showed enthusiasm and a willingness to listen to feedback, which helped set some new PBs despite the lack of proper training over the holidays. Our younger swimmers must be congratulated on their 'have a go attitude' and it was pleasing to see so many try out the backstroke ledges.

Special mention to Thaneson Chen, who earned his first County Qualifying time with a brilliant 400 free, and 2 other consideration times for 200 IM & 100 free. Well done also to Talia & Oren for their new, or improved club records & to Oren for his top boy award.

A massive thank you to all those parents, who helped out - as the saying goes 'every little helps!'. It really was a team effort.

Wycombe End of Season Open
15th to 16th Jul 2017

Well done to all swimmers who competed at the final meet of the year. Long course racing provides a tough challenge at the end of the season - especially without access to any long course training!

Tomasz Zychowicz ended his season on a high, producing some impressive improvements to see him reach the final of the 50 bk. While Talia Staines bettered her existing 400 Fr Long Course club record.

Special mention to Thaneson Chen, who set 2 new Long Course U12 club records for 400IM & 200 Fly. Oren Staines also improved his U10 records for the same events. Swimming the hardest 2 races back to back over 50m is quite an achievement.

Thanks as always to all the officials and parents who helped poolside.

Oxford L3 Open
16th Jul 2017

BEJSC IM Challenge
2nd Jul 2017

Well done to all who took part - some impressive improvements to times - even if you can't all count to 16!

Thanks as always to our officials & to Chris O'Connell for acting as ref. Your time is very much appreciated.

Maxwell Summer Open
24th to 25th Jun 2017

Another long, hot weekend at Aqua Vale produced some excellent swimming and significant improvements in both skills and times. It also provided the swimmers with a fantastic opportunity to practise with, and use backstroke ledges for the first time, which will be vital experience for those aiming for County or Regional Championships next year.

All swimmers produced at least one new PB, with a handful - Andrew, Tomasz, Ruby and Colette - setting improved times in all their races. There was also the happy jangling of medals, as these skills earned top placings; well done to the following for their successes: Talia - 2 golds (100 fr/200 fr), Fraser - 1 bronze (200 fly), Andrew - 1 bronze (50 bk), Luke - 1 bronze (50 bk).

Talia also continued her unexpected IM development, setting a new U14 Club Record for 200 IM, as well as improving her existing 200 fr record. Oren also bettered his own 100 & 200 fly U10 Club Records. His massive 10 golds, 2 silvers and 1 bronze also saw him claim Top Boy trophy for the most successful swimmer for a second year in a row.

Thanks to our officials - Martin Wheeler, Keiran Millard and Simon Bateman. But special mention and congratulations to Henry Staines for passing his J2s assessment to become the club's second qualified starter!
