Oxford L3 Open
13th to 15th Jul 2018

Maidenhead Summer Open
14th Jul 2018

Well done to the 3 girls and 5 boys who swam at Maidenhead's Summer Open at the rather hot & humid Magnet Leisure Centre! It was an enjoyable day out for all involved, and congratulations to everyone giving their season a strong finish.

The youngest swimmers, Snow and Toby, both gave courageous performances - in particular the 100m free for Toby, and the 100m individual medley for Snow, where they both achieved significant improvements to their times. Both Eleanor and Sophie Moore swam well in their races, with Eleanor coming 3rd in her age group in 50m breaststroke, and Sophie gaining PBs in her events.

Rocco gave great energy to his swims, while Jacob Cooke continued his momentum with his recent form in the pool, showing maturity in his technique. Andrew Partridge showed good skills in all his races, while Oliver Cooke gave the younger swimmers a glimpse of what can be achieved through hard work and determination. Oliver also immediately stepped up to offer his goggles when a younger swimmer broke theirs minutes before their race.

Special thanks to Karen, Treena and Kate for officiating; also, Jo and Claire for helping out poolside. Thanks too to Claire for her fabulous account of the day's action!

Maxwell Summer Open
23rd to 24th Jun 2018

With PBs hard to come by (perhaps it was the heat or end of term/exam itis!), our small band of swimmers did their best to make the most of a long, hot weekend!

There were occasional glimpses of great skill & determination - Fraser & Oren in the 200 fly, or Andrew Partridge's consistent improvement in recent weeks. However, the prize for most resilient of the weekend is shared by Emily Grainger (showing sense beyond her 10 yrs to fix her goggles & carry on unfazed) & Annabel Nock for overcoming her fears to complete her 100 breast. Well done both - next time it can only be easier!

Despite the heat, there was 1 club record - Oren setting a new U12 short course time for 200 fly.

Thanks as always to our officials - Henry Staines, Martin Wheeler & Simon Bateman.
